Holi is a major Hindu holiday that celebrates the start of spring and the goodness triumph over the evil men from Nandgaon. Legend says that the demonsess of Holika was conquered through the unwavering devotion of to the Hindu god of preservation, Lord Vishnu. Vishnu’s reincarnations of playing pranks on the village girls with drenching them with water and colours started the scene of a beautiful tradition. Hindus drench themselves in coloured powder to celebrate that social status of people doesn’t matter. After a day of play, they sober up and dress up for the evening of greeting friends and relatives by exchanging sweets. Revelers participate in the ceremonial throwing of the coloured water and chalk during the day to witness the magical experience of glow in the dark run at night.
