The baseball season has come to an end with the victory of the Chicago Cubs in the World Series against the Indians. The drought of 71 years is now over the fans erupted with excitement across the stadium to congratulate a great home win finale.  Through toughness and hard work, the Cubs pulled out the upset with an 8-7 win in 10 innings over the Indians in Game 7. Dexter Fowler, center fielder for the cubs, kicked off the greatest game of all time with a leadoff homer over Cleveland Indian ace Corey Kluber. Next, the Indians tied things up with a lead off double from Coco Crisp, who was moved to third base from a sacrifice bunt from Roberto Perez and scored on a Carlos Santana RBI single in right field. The answer back was not enough due to the Cubs striking back in the top of the fourth with a Kris Bryant single, Anthony Rizzo hit by a pitch, a Ben Zorbist hit into fielder’s choice to move Rizzo to second and Bryant to third, then  followed by Wilson Conteras double to help lead the Cubs 3 to 1. The Cubs stayed aggressive by Javier Baez homer in the fifth inning to force the Indians to use star reliever Andrew Miller, who allowed another run after walking Bryant and a RBI hit by Rizzo. Cleveland does not give with two outs in the bottom of the fifth by a Carlos Santana walk, followed by a Jason Kipnis dribbler up the third base line to which was an error to first base by third baseman David Ross.

Next, Fransico Lindor, shortstop for the Indians, stood up to bat only to watch a wild pitch blew by him to score two runs to cut the lead to 5-3. Then again, the relentless Cubs found their momentum from a Ross solo homer in the top of the Sixth of Miller to increase the lead to 6-3. The excitement then came back in the eighth when John Lester got a standing ovation for every strike he threw the Chicago batters. But, Lester’s run was short lived when he gave up a single to Jose Ramirez to end his outing. Aroldis Chapman, reliever for the Indians, failed to end the Cubs rally due to a double from Brandon Guyer to score Ramirez. The Indians show its persistence to win with a Davis line drive homer that just leaped over the left field wall to tie the game.

The ninth inning went scoreless, and a rain delay soon followed to put the game on hold. The tenth inning started hot again for the Cubs behind the two hits from Ben Zorbist and Miguel Montero. Things got intense when Carl Edwards Jr. could by an out after a quick first 1-2 shutdown by allowing a RBI single to Davis to score Guyer. But the Cubs reliever Mike Montgomery finished the job sealing the win that hasn’t happened in over 70 years to keep the Indians drought going.
