Members of the community will be able to enjoy numerous fall festivities throughout the season, from activities held on school campuses to around the Houston area. Some of these events are geared towards younger students, while others are more recommended for older teenagers. With many opportunities to celebrate, this season promises plenty of fun and community spirited activities to students and families in Katy.
Monster Mash
For the past couple of years, The Miller Career and Technology Center has held a “Monster Mash” where kids can play games, receive candy, and take a look into how the Miller Center functions. This has been a lasting tradition generally enjoyed by younger kids throughout the community, making it a great family activity. On Wednesday, Oct. 29, the fifth annual Monster Mash took place, where organizers extended their invite out to the whole community. Each section of Miller had a different theme that subtly alluded to the field of medicine.
“The theme definitely varies in between different programs in Miller, and it’ll definitely tie into what we’re specifically doing,” volunteer Paola Tremont Medina said. “For example, Clinical Rotations is going to be doing theirs about the body systems.”
Outdoor Adventures
If you want to check out some activities closer by, there are also various activities happening in neighborhoods nearby, such as the Halloween Carnival and Haunted Lakehouse. This event took place from 2:00-5 p.m. at the Cinco Ranch Lakehouse on Halloween day, and anyone was open to attend–students, parents, and any other members of the community. There was Trunk or Treating, food trucks, carnival games, and plenty more activities that members of the community enjoyed.
“The kids clearly were enjoying themselves as the atmosphere and carnival games were really engaging, especially the bouncy houses,” sophomore Harlow Veroba said.
Trendy Spots
While there are many events being held on school campuses and neighborhoods, there are also plenty of other activities, including pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and corn mazes taking place around the Houston area. One activity highly recommended by teenagers in Katy is the REDRUM Fear Park. This park includes haunted houses, live shows, laser tag, food, and plenty more for one to enjoy through the weekend. Freshman Addison Nachefski describes her visit to this park and her favorite aspects of the experience.
“I thought it was really good, and the atmosphere and the lighting and everything made it feel really scary,” Nachefski said. “But 30 minutes [after] the place opens, it [becomes] really populated.”
If you are looking to make the most of the season, plenty of fall festivities or social events, such as small gatherings with friends or even larger community celebrations, are the perfect way to spend time with friends, family, and make memories.
