Humans of Seven Lakes: Ricardo Lopez
“I’ve been dancing for 3 years. I actually started as a tap dancer and that was all I did for a while— it was super fun! I wanted to start dancing because I was about to do my first musical at Miller, Crazy For You, and I knew I would have to tap dance in it. I had also wanted to get better since I had danced in a few musicals and was not very good. Now I do tap, jazz, ballet, and a bit of modern.
I was cast in the TUTS production of Oklahoma! In a partnership with the Houston Ballet. I was in that show with Broadway actors and Houston Ballet dancers. I’ve also done four musicals at Miller Outdoor Theatre, the largest venue in Houston and fourth largest outdoor theatre in the nation. Besides that, getting to learn from such amazing people all the time really is a huge honor.
Recently, I was cast as Gaston in the school musical. Beauty and the Beast is pretty awesome, the cast is a ton of fun and me and Jon Schulte (Lefou) are just having a great time everyday being silly and larger-than-life.
In my future, I want to dance or perform on Broadway, national tours, international tours, and more. I still have a long ways to go in dance and in my career but I’m excited to get out there and learn.”
