Waiting for her spot to dry, senior Kavita Kulanthaivel makes sure to look over every detail on her piece. Kulanthaivel freehanded her nickname with a heart and framed it with polka dots.
Outlining her rough sketch, senior Kendal Lacy paints precise brush strokes over her chalk lines. She painted her first name with a pair of headphones, displaying her love of music.
Seniors Kaylee Mahdavi and Pige Heilman sit together and trace over a stencil for Mahdavi’s senior spot. Many students opted to use stencils because of how easy they were to paint over.
Helping out her friend, senior Bri Johnston paints a button on senior Caroline Canterbury’s parking spot. Canterbury wanted to paint a Coraline themed parking spot piece because Caroline reminded her of Coraline.
To leave her mark on her last school year, senior Bri Johnston imprinted her handprints next to her name. Johnston added extra flair to her spot by adding the squiggly lines on the outisde of the piece.
After running marathons during seventh period soccer, seniors Payton Dally and Brian Tripsa meet up at their parking spots before going home for the day. Dally and Tripsa bought spots next to because they were close friends and wanted spots near the soccer field.
Excitedly painting his jersey number and nickname onto the parking spot, senior Preston Higginbottom adds the finishing touches to his masterpiece. Higginbottom served as the starting varsity guard on the boys football team, participated in track and field, and took part in FFA.
Senior Esteban Schrick paints a simple design on his senior spot. His nickname “Este” was clearly printed on his spot so he could distinguish it from his teammates’ spots, since they all parked together in a row.
Arriving just a couple minutes after parking painting started, senior Payton Dally wasted no time in getting his piece started with his firend sernior Brian Tripsa. “Brian and I are parked right next to each other and we decided to put angry bird characters to show that we are ‘squad’,” said Dally.
Laughing to one of his friend’s jokes, senior Brian Tripsa begins his senior spot piece in a gleeful mood. Tripsa matched his senior spot design with his friend and fellow soccer teammate, senior Payton Dally, with his nickname, and an Angry Bird to go along with it.
With the help of his friends, senior Arnav Karandikar puts the final touches on his senior spot. He drew inspiration from Canadian hip-hop artist, Nav, and his extracurricular sport, Varsity tennis.
Seniors Bri Johnston and Sofia Davis search up what they want to paint on Johnston’s spot. Many students painted their nicknames and a small symbol that represented themselves on their spot.
Finishing off her friend’s parking spot masterpiece, senior JoAnna Vanvalkenburgh writes the word “VICE” with her friend’s jersey number 8. Vanvalkenburgh parked alongside her volleyball teammates in the backlot.
The severe Houston heat didn’t stop seniors Tony Pham, Maria Prado, and Kavita Kulanthaivel from painting parking spots on the afternoon of August 15th. Pham made a simple design with his name and outlined his design out in chalk before he got started.
